Have your say on Gwynedd Council Equality Plan
There is an opportunity for residents to have their say on how Gwynedd Council seeks to ensure fairness for all and put equality at the heart of all its local services.
The authority’s Strategic Equality Plan will set-out the objectives and actions that the Council will focus on over the next four years, up to April 2024.
The Council has identified two main work fields to:
- improve internal systems so that all Gwynedd residents receive appropriate services that fulfil their needs;
- improve the economic situation of people with equality characteristics in Gwynedd.
The Equality Plan 2020-2024 will build on a previous plan (2016-2020) striving to promote equality and diversity for the benefit of the people of Gwynedd and Council staff.
Councillor Nia Jeffreys, Gwynedd Council's Cabinet Member responsible for the field, said:
“We want to make sure that every service we provide is accessible to all the people of Gwynedd - in a way that is convenient for them.
“Equality affects us all and it is important to ensure fairness to people whatever their age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or disability.
“Through this Plan, we will prioritise equality issues to ensure that the Council works in a way that is fair to all.
“This is an ambitious and practical Plan that will put all the people of Gwynedd at the heart of what the Council is working to achieve.
"We have already been engaging with stakeholders in drawing up these objectives, and we are now inviting the county’s residents to read the Plan in full and give their views on the main objectives."
To view the Plan and to answer the questionnaire you can go to the Gwynedd Council website www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/Equality or there are paper copies are available to view at all Gwynedd Libraries and ‘Siopau Gwynedd’. The consultation is open until 7 February 2020.
