Is your business ready for Brexit?

Date: 25/10/2019

Despite the uncertainty that continues around Brexit, businesses are being encouraged to take this time to prepare and make all reasonable steps to ensure they are as prepared as possible beforehand.

Gwynedd Council are encouraging the county’s businesses to visit the Welsh Government’s Business Wales Brexit Portal. The designated site aims to help businesses to mitigate any possible risks and identify the challenges and opportunities that may lie ahead.

Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor Gareth Thomas said:

“Gwynedd Council has been clear all along that we believe that Brexit will have a major impact on our communities. Although there remains a lot of uncertainty around timings, we would urge local companies to take any steps possible to make sure that they are as prepared as they can be.

“The Business Wales Brexit site brings together all the relevant information and advice for Welsh companies. It includes a specific Brexit Toolkit for Welsh business, covering six key areas so that companies can measure how prepared they are and generating a specific report which highlights areas they may need to address.

“We would encourage Gwynedd firms to visit the site and see whether they need to take action to prepare in advance of Brexit.”

The Business Wales Brexit site also provides information on ‘Technical Notices’ which are relevant to specific industries noting the changes that may affect individual sectors in the event of a no deal EU exit. These include information businesses need to consider regarding import and export, regulations and standards, data protection, marketing standards, employees, tariffs and trade associations.
