How to apply

Applicants can apply for projects intending to operate in Gwynedd only, or in several local authority areas. Each county will decide independently whether to support an application or not.

The timescale for delivery of the UKSF is short - all projects will need to be completed by 31 December 2024. Considering the short period available for delivery, Cyngor Gwynedd will be seeking to support a relatively small number of larger, strategic projects.  All projects submitted must seek at least £250,000 of UKSPF funds – the councilanticipates that, on average, supported projects will be seeking £1 million plus of UKSPF funds.

The projects must also deliver one or more of the outputs and outcomes announced by the UK Government.

As well as demonstrating alignment with the UKSPF itself, projects seeking support in Gwynedd must help realise national, regional, and local strategies and priorities.

Applications for UKSPF funding in Gwynedd will follow a two-stage process.  Each local authority in North Wales will follow a similar procedure:

Stage 1: submission of an outline project application

Stage 2: submission of a detailed project application

Cyngor Gwynedd will prioritise and select projects based on their stage 1 outline application.

Selected projects will be invited to prepare and submit a stage 2 detailed application, which will include further information on the proposal.  Formal grant funding agreements will be issued following appraisal of the stage 2 detailed application. 

The next steps once Stage 1 outline applications are received will be:

1. Application appraised by the Gwynedd Shared Prosperity Fund team.
2. Views will be sought form relevant stakeholders.
3. The Shared Prosperity Fund: Gwynedd Advisory Group assess and prioritise the projects to hand and make recommendations to Cyngor Gwynedd
4. Cyngor Gwynedd will decide which projects to support.
5. Applicants advised of decision.
6. Successful applicants invited to prepare and submit a stage 2 detailed project application. 

The next steps once Stage 2 detailed applications are received will be: 

1.  Applications appraised further, and final due diligence of applicants completed.
2. Cyngor Gwynedd confirms final decision on application.
3. Formal grant funding agreements issued by regional team on behalf of Cyngor Gwynedd. 

Cyngor Gwynedd aims to complete appraisal and selection of stage 1 outline applications submitted before midday on Friday, 24 February 2023 by the end of March 2023.
