Buy Local

The regeneration of town centres has been a priority for Gwynedd Council for many years, and the recent Covid-19 pandemic has further highlighted the need to support town centres in our efforts to re-open following the long lockdown periods. The Buy Local programme looks at identifying interventions and opportunities to promote the products by Gwynedd businesses and towns and to encourage residents and visitors to buy locally. The importance of this has been identified on a strategic level in order to ensure that business profits are recycled within the local economy, to support local businesses and communities within the county and to develop a viable and sustainable economy.

Gwynedd Council is undertaking a social media promotional campaign to encourage local people and visitors to Gwynedd to buy locally and support local businesses. There’s an opportunity for you to help with this important work by sharing information about businesses in your area who provide a valuable service to your community, sells local produce, products of the highest quality and an unique shopping experience.

If you are aware of local businesses who service our communities then please email PrynuLleol@gwynedd.llyw.cymru, tag and share content on our Buy Local Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts.

The Council has also produced assets such as logos and Gifs for businesses to use-

In addition to the digital resources, the Council has produced 'Open and Closed' and 'wobblers' signs, which can be placed on shelves or near the counter, for you to use in your business to promote Buy Local messages. These are available for FREE – please send an email with your full address to prynulleol@gwynedd.llyw.cymru

Below is an example of a video that was produced to promote buy locally during St David’s Day celebrations. The video includes a voice over of a poem written especially for the campaign by Rhys Iorwerth.
