Name: Miriam Elen Roberts
Lives in: Bangor
Job: Solicitor
Qualification: LPC (Chester) and Professional Skills Course
Background:
After choosing Law as an AS Level in Coleg Meirion Dwyfor, and enjoying it, I chose to go on to do this at the University of Sheffield. I completed a degree in Law with Criminology. Whilst at university, after doing some work experience, I decided that I did not want to go to work as a solicitor immediately after university, but I did enjoy teaching.
I decided to follow a Teacher Training (PGCE) course so that I could teach Law as an A Level subject. As it was difficult to find such a course, not many Universities offered it. I managed to get a place on a course, and completed the teacher training through the University of Southampton and then I got a job in a college teaching Law for 2 years and I lived in the South of England.
Luckily, circumstances changed and this meant that I could move home to Chwilog in 2019 and study the LPC in Chester. I succeeded on the course, and then I got a job in Cyngor Gwynedd through Cynllun Yfory in 2020 to commence on a Training Contract.
I was so happy to get a job in the local area, where I was buying a house. After spending some time away from the area, I appreciate home so much more and I am very proud to be able to work for the area through the medium of Welsh.
