Report benefit fraud

We are committed to providing Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction for residents who are amongst the most vulnerable and needy within society.

However, we acknowledge that there are individuals or groups who will try to obtain benefits to which they are not entitled. On certain occasions this is done with intent and an element of prior planning, or as a result of dishonestly failing to notify the Council of a change in their circumstances.

The Council will continue to deal with applications for benefits, but the service that investigates benefit fraud is part of the Government's Department for Work and Pensions.

If you suspect that someone is defrauding the benefits system, you can report this by completing the form on the Government’s website. Please note that this is an external website, and that the Council does not have any control over its contents. 'www.gov.uk/report-benefit-fraud'
