If you live in an area which suffers from flooding, Natural Resources Wales can warn you if any flood warnings are issued in your area. The service is completely free of charge.
When there is flooding, during severe weather or high tides, the Council will try to supply sandbags to people who ask for them if there is a high risk of imminent flooding of the property. The Council's ability to supply sandbags depends on the workers' availability because of the extent and severity of the floods.

Health advice for residents affected by flooding
It is important to exercise caution when cleaning up following a flood as flood water may be contaminated. Should you come into contact with flood water or flood damaged items, please take note of the following advice:
- Please ensure that you wear water proof clothing and gloves when cleaning up after a flood;
- Dispose of any foods which have come into contact with flood water;
- Thoroughly clean all utensils and kitchen surfaces with hot soapy water and disinfectant as required;
- And most importantly ensure that hands are washed thoroughly after coming into contact with flood water or flood damaged items.
