Tap on-Tap off
Tap on-Tap off is currently being trialled on some of our local bus services.
The key things to know about ‘Tap on-Tap off’:
- ‘Tap on-Tap off’ is used to charge the Adult Single fare.
- You must Tap on the ticket machine when boarding the bus, and, you must Tap off on the Tap Off Reader when or the ticket machine as you get off the bus.
- If you are making multiple trips, the system automatically charges a capped fare
- On reaching a cap, you will not get charged for any further trips during that time period, but should continue to Tap on-Tap off.
- Return fares are not currently capped using Tap on-Tap off. Therefore, a return ticket should be purchased from the driver as you would normally.
- If you want to purchase a paper/return ticket, do not just place your card on the ticket machine when boarding. The ticket must first be set up on the ticket machine, otherwise a Tap on transaction will be recorded!
- As more bus companies in the area go live with Tap on-Tap off, Multi Operator fare caps, such as 1Bws, will be applied across all bus companies.
