Governors
If you get on with people, would like to learn something new and give something back to the community, then being a school governor may be for you.
A Governor's role
As a governor you work as a volunteer and have an interest in educating or teaching, who represents members of the community and the schools' staff. You are part of a team who is responsible for everything that a school accomplishes, provide support for the school, and you also give critical views on the schools' standards and management issues.
Every school has a governing body. It normally includes:
- Parent-governor
- Governors of the Local Education Authority
- Community Governors
- Additional Community Governors
- Foundation Governors
- Teacher-governor
- Staff-governor
