Pleasure boat

To hire out water-bound pleasure crafts (including sailboards, rowing boats, canoes, motor boats, pedalos and larger boats) that are for personal use or carrying passengers, you need a licence. You must not carry more passengers than you are licensed to carry.

Licences may be subject to a fee. Conditions may be attached to a licence.

Application evaluation process
The boat will be checked on dry land and afloat in order to ensure that it is in good repair and that you have all the necessary equipment. You will also need to show documents such as an insurance certificate.

Consumer complaint
We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Citizens Advice will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
