Community Arts

The Gwynedd Community Arts Unit delivers a series of annual initiatives that support people to access, enjoy and experience the arts, for the benefit of individuals, society, the economy and community.

Each year the Community Arts Unit runs a varied programme of activities and projects across Gwynedd. From workshops to exhibitions, courses and grants, festivals and creative projects, we aim to make the arts accessible to all.

Grants are available to support arts activity.. We can also support professional performances in the community through the Night Out and Mini Night Out schemes, in partnership with the Arts Council of Wales

Oriel Ysbyty Gwynedd

We are delighted to announce that  Gwynedd Community Arts will be launching a new series of exhibitions at Oriel Ysbyty Gwynedd starting this June.

Originally started in 2012 Oriel Ysbyty Gwynedd has given a platform to local artists to exhibit their work in the foyer of the hospital, to be enjoyed by visitors and staff. We believe that the arts are essential for the health and wellbeing of the residents of Gwynedd, and the exhibition space at Ysbyty Gwynedd is an important part of this. During the covid 19 pandemic and subsequent lock downs it became necessary to halt the exhibitions, so we are very pleased to be re-launching and bringing art back to the hospital.

We will be installing the first exhibition by artist Femke Van Gent at the beginning of June 2023. Femke will be exhibiting different aspects of her work, including ‘People Pilgrimage’– work from a 2021 project where Femke went with fellow artist Emily Meilleur on a People Pilgrimage around the Lleyn Peninsula as part of a project by Invertigo and Cwmni Tebot.

Femke’s work is colourful, uplifting and positive, and is the perfect way to re-launch Oriel Ysbyty Gwynedd. We hope you enjoy the exhibition, which will be situated in the foyer of Ysbyty Gwynedd. If you would like to know more, please contact us on celf@gwynedd.llyw.cymru. You can also contact Femke to buy prints, discuss commissions and share your ideas about the work by emailing her on femvangent@hotmail.com
