Plans and maps

When you submit a planning application you will need to present maps and plans of the development / site. If you submit your application through an agent / architect, they may organise this on your behalf.

 

Maps

Every planning application must be accompanied by a location plan on a map at a scale of 1:1250 or 1:2500 showing the site and its boundaries.

The site must be outlined clearly with a RED line on the map. It should include all of the land that is required for the completion of the proposed development including access, landscaping and parking areas.

You should draw a BLUE line on the map around any other land owned by the applicant, close to or adjoining the site.

 

How do I buy a map?

You can buy maps through the Planning Portal website or from the agencies authorised by the Ordnance Survey Superplan.

 

Plans

With every planning application you will need to present:

• A location plan (scale 1:1250 or 1:2500) - details above
• A proposed block plan (1:200 - 1:500)
• Existing and proposed floor plans (1:50 - 1:100)
• Existing and proposed elevations (1:50 - 1:100)
• Existing and proposed site cross-sections - (1:50 - 1:100)

These plans will normally be supplied by an agent / architect.
