Town Centre Property Improvement Grant

This fund is now fully committed.

We are pleased to be able to report that all applications have now been assessed and that we are in the final stages of deciding which schemes should be supported. The total amount of support requested is over £9 million with only £2 million available. It is therefore inevitable that many applicants will be disappointed and there will be a number of deserving schemes that we cannot support.

The Town Centre Property Improvement Grant, supported by the Welsh Government Transforming Towns Programme and the Shared Prosperity Fund: Gwynedd and Cyngor Gwynedd has been established to support businesses in town centres and cities to develop and upgrade their properties. We acknowledge that town centre businesses have, and continue to, face an economically challenging time.

The grant is available for independent, small and medium sized businesses who operate or plan to operate in Town and City Centres in Gwynedd.

The main purpose of the fund is to try and make a tangible difference to the appearance of our town and city centres making them more attractive places to visit and work; encouraging people to spend their time and money there.  The Council will, therefore, support improvements to business premises within the main commercial centre (generally the high street - or similar - and locations immediately adjacent)

Two support options are available: Support for physical improvements to commercial property up to £25,000 and for larger projects, up to £250,000.

The grant is available to independent, small and medium sized businesses and enterprises in the following locations in Gwynedd. Businesses will need to be located within the main commercial centres in these locations.

  • Bangor
